Participation is free and open to both seasoned professionals and fresh young newcomers. The internationally renowned competition has been organised for the past 16 years by DIGITAL PRODUCTION, the leading industry magazine covering the entire spectrum of media production and visualisation. The awards presentation will take place on Thursday 25 October 2012 as part of the animago AWARD & CONFERENCE (25-26 October 2012) at the fx.Center in Potsdam-Babelsberg.
"In 2012, we’re once again expecting roughly 1,000 submissions from Germany, Europe and the rest of the world,” notes Jana Freund, project manager of the animago AWARD & CONFERENCE. “Last year, we received submissions from exactly 62 countries, and this proved to us that the award has succeeded in achieving even greater international prominence and acknowledgment!” Since 1997, the animago AWARD has been honouring outstanding productions in the fields of 3D, visual effects and interactive media in a total of eleven categories. Each award represents a recognition of exceptional creativity and technical excellence. All submissions are evaluated by an independent jury made up of experts drawn from the fields of film, development and post-production.

We also want to call your attention to a new element in this year’s competition: In 2012, DIGITAL PRODUCTION readers will be responsible for choosing the nominees and award-winners in the “Best Still” category via a public voting process. Our jury of experts will make the initial pre-selection based on the main criteria of photorealistic presentation, design, artistic standard and technical execution.
