Madhura, your young age and entry into the world of Art, combined with entrepreneurship, Tell us a little about your background?
I have completed my engineering and shall fly to California next month for pursuing MS in Computer Science. I wanted to exhibit my paintings here in India before heading to USA. My main motto isn’t  selling paintings but to show them to my close people from this exhibition.

From Engineering to Artist… What inspired you to choose a career as an artist? How did you go about pursuing it? Why art?
I am not trained artist but art is my hobby and I make paintings whenever I get free time. Art for me has never been about profession, for me it's about exploring my inner-self and expressing them in my paintings. Why did I make paintings?  Well, I enjoyed it, of course; but it was more like meditation for me and somehow helped me to remember who I am and what I wish to do in life.

What does “being creative” mean to you?
For me It is about being unique and stand out from others. I have always tried to work creatively so as to not do something monotonous and try to go beyond what I have already done.

Are you involved in any upcoming shows, exhibition or events? Where and when?
Yes, I have my own exhibition named MadArt starting from 8th july to 15th july at Andheri sports complex, Andheri, Mumbai.

What themes do you pursue?
MadArt is basically about a girl, her dreams and passion. It is about me and my life.

Describe a real-life situation that inspired you?
As I had planned to go USA for further studies I started going through their blogs, pages, places to know more about their culture. I was skimming through a few of international artist’s blogs, I was excitedly gushing over how different and unique techniques they use in each painting, and that was when it struck me that in India, we hardly see paintings of foreign landscapes and using different techniques. So I decided to create paintings of Indian girl who intend to go abroad, her dreams, passion in unique style.

What do you like about MadArt? How it is different?
When I decided my theme, I immediately feverishly started googling Indian artist’s blogs to see if there were artists who’d made an attempt to incorporate any foreign country elements into their paintings. Unfortunately, I found none. MadArt, was hence conceived out of an eager desire to revive out new-age trendy painting styles, and fuse it with our native Indian techniques to create Madhura’s unique style in paintings.

Name three artists you’d like to be compared to.
First of all, I am not trained artist, and I don’t compare myself with any artist because they have vast knowledge about art. My competition was always with myself; and I always intended to make better piece of an art as compared with my previous painting.

Can you briefly explain your creative process, medium, etc?
I managed to experiment with different techniques, colors, styles. My primary medium is acrylic paints and I have used color inks with them.

Other than art and designing, what inspires you most?
I like to read novels. I love dancing and have participated in various dance competitions since school days. Apart from this I like to travel to new places.

What obstacles, if any, have you encountered along the way?
As I told you, being an engineer student it was very difficult for me to manage studies and waiting long for weekends to find some time for painting from busy schedule (being an engineer student, and specially being involved in every non academic, social, cultural activity in college) and create unique artwork.

5 things you want to do in near future?
I want to maintain this equilibrium of good career as an engineer and pursuing my hobbies. 5 things would be completing MS with good scores, learning more about painting and become a good artist, entrepreneurship, travelling to new places and last but most important making my family proud and keep them happy.

Is there anything else you would like to share?
I am doing this exhibition for all people who love and support me. I would love to invite all art lovers to witness my world through these paintings that'll be displayed in this exhibition.

Thank you  Madhura for sharing your experiences with us and all the very best for your future endeavors.
