To all those in the creative industry: watch this space! The new round for the Red Dot Award: Communication Design starts on 7 April 2014. With the beginning of the early bird phase, designers, agencies, freelancers and companies are invited to submit their projects to the scrutiny of the international Red Dot jury. From Corporate Design to Print Advertising or Online – the search is on for the most innovative campaigns and graphics works from the world of communication design.

“Inspire the world” – under this motto, the global creative scene is called upon to enter its works in the Red Dot Award, one of the world’s most important design and creative competitions. All those who succeed in convincing the international panel of experts will earn themselves the right to use the quality seal of the design industry, the Red Dot. The award impresses partners, industry experts and customers alike and guarantees global interest.

Internationality and independence
A competition is always only as good as its jury. In addition to jury members who have served on the Red Dot jury before, new experts are constantly added who enrich the decision-making processes with their knowledge. The jury for the Red Dot Award: Communication Design evaluates each piece of work individually during the course of long sittings. The same conditions apply to each participant, as the jury members assess each piece of work live and in situ. From Advertising to Online or Apps – the 16 categories in total give designers a large range of possibilities for submitting their creative projects.

Seal of quality and compass
Prof. Dr. Peter Zec, the founder and CEO of Red Dot, emphasises the importance of effective media relations: “Convincing communication work and the use of the corresponding channels, in print and on the web, is essential. If you want to reach your target group and be successful on the market, you have to attract attention on all levels of marketing. And you can only be successful on the market if the consumers are 100% convinced. Winning a Red Dot is a double bonus in this respect. Firstly, the winners receive the recognition for their creative achievements, as they have succeeded in winning over our international jury of experts and in coming out on top in the global competition. Secondly, they can use the award with the seal of quality in their own presentation in order to market themselves proactively. Red Dot displays excellent communication”.

Furthermore, the Red Dot: Junior Award is once again promoting up-and-coming talents. Students and young professionals have the chance to win the Red Dot: Junior Prize together with prize money of EUR 10,000 and thus to lay the foundations for a successful career. In 2014, this award has been opened up for the first time to apprentices from the design industry, who are invited to take part in the competition with their work.

Red Dot in Berlin
Once again this year, Red Dot will be celebrating in the creative metropolis of Berlin. On 24 October 2014, the competition winners will be honoured as part of the Red Dot Gala in Berlin's magnificent Konzerthaus. Afterwards, the top names in the scene will celebrate until late in the night at Berlin’s hot location “ewerk” as part of the Designers’ Night, which doubles up as the vernissage for the “Design on Stage” winners’ exhibition.

Participants can take advantage of the special rates for early registration during the “early bird” phase till 30 April. Regular registration then runs from 1 May to 2 June. The latecomers phase is the last chance to register for the competition and ends on 27 June 2014.
