Motion design/animation studio leftchannel, led by President/ Creative Director Alberto Scirocco, has been selected to create the show open for motion 2013 conference. It’sone of North America’s leading innovative and uniquely intimate events that brings together an ever-expanding scope of designers and animators for an annual celebration of the creative spirit. Motion 2013 will be held October 4-7 at the historic KiMo Theatre in Albuquerque, NM.

In addition to concepting and creating the animated show open, Scirocco will offer three presentations that will break down how the piece was created – providing a rare glimpse into the creative strategy, the challenges the team faced and the variety of techniques and technology used to overcome them.

”Over the past seven years motion has become an important industry event,” Scirocco says. “It brings like minded artists together to discuss their creative processes and encourages opportunities for the attendees to collaborate and learn from one another. Being asked to play a central role in it is an honor.”

For Elaine Montoya, Chief Imagination Officer at motion.tv and the motion conference, the decision to have leftchannel craft the conference show open was born solely out of an appreciation for their work and sensibility.

“The show open featured artist choice is always a difficult one,” Montoya says, “but after looking at their work and speaking to Alberto it was clear that this is a company with a truly distinct voice that deserved to be showcased. We’re looking forward to seeing what they come up with and an engaging conversation about their process.”

Founded in 2003, leftchannel has built its reputation thanks to the wide-ranging styles their uniquely talented staff are comfortable working in, coupled with an organic, artful approach that they bring to all of their work.

“I always want viewers to see the artistic hand behind our work,” Scirocco adds. “The team we have here all come from different artistic disciplines, and that’s what makes leftchannel special. We look forward to sharing that with motion 2013.”
