Iron Man is back, and fans have a reason to rejoice. Some Great Action, Robert Downey Junior’s sarcasm, Crazy villains, the awesome Iron Suit and you get Iron Man 3. Iron man 3 is the third Instalment in Super Successful Iron Man Franchise. The last two Iron Man movies were both summer blockbusters. So does Iron Man 3 lives up to the expectations? Well let’s take a glance.

After the Avengers, Tony Stark has been suffering from anxiety attacks and to relieve the tension, he has built several Iron Man suits in his mansion for protection and security. Because of this insecurity, his relationship with his girlfriend Virginia "Pepper" Potts is getting troubled. In a flashback to New Year's Eve 1999, Stark, with his scientist paramour Maya Hansen, arrogantly avoids crippled scientist Aldrich Killian, who wants Stark's backing in his endeavour Advanced Idea Mechanics (AIM). Present Day, America has been terrorized by a string of bombings executed by terrorist known as ‘The Mandarin’.  When Stark Industries security Chief ‘Happy Hogan’ is captured and wounded in such an attack. Tony issues a televised threat to the Mandarin, Who responds by attack and destroying Stark’s home. Stark’s life is at stake and so as his girlfriend. How will Stark survive the attack and save the love of his life forms the rest of the story.

Plot wise, the film has nothing new to offer. It’s just another dimension of an Iron Man movie. On the plus side, the film has some good performances, great action scenes and visual effects. But on the story front, it’s a let-down.  Even after a promising premise, the narration doesn’t stick to it. Instead it’s all predictable stuff. Most disappointing was the revelation of the terrorist Mandarin. There is no fun of having such a buffoonery of a capable villain. The plot seems more to be desired.

VFX in Iron man movies have always been a strong point and this is no exception. Reportedly, the Visual Effects have been done by many companies including Scanline VFX, Digital Domain, and Weta Digital. Effects of the Iron suit in particular are exceptional especially during the first attack and the scene where he saves the passengers in air falling through the plane. The Effects in Extremis powers could have been better. It gives you a vibe from ‘Human Torch’ Effect from Fantastic Four.
Robert Downey Junior is again at his sarcastically best and shines throughout the film. Sometimes I wonder why he uses his Iron suit to destroy villains. His one liners can do that job alone.  Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts, girlfriend of Tony Stark acts finely and this time she gets to do some hard-core action as well. Aldrich Killian played by Guy Pearce plays the main villain impressively. Supporting cast is good as well. Special mention to Ty Simpkins who plays Harley is efficient.

All in all Iron Man 3 is a stress busting entertainer, a good popcorn flick that can be seen for having some decent entertainment. But if you are expecting a new edge on Iron Man Movies that would take them to a new broad epic level then, you might be a little disappointed. However, the film is recommended – for at least a onetime watch.

Rating – 3.5/5
