Technicolor and Ms Pauline Marois, Quebec Premier, have announced the opening of a new Visual Effects studio which will employ more than 200 artists in Montreal. Furthermore, the Group has announced that it will be relocating all its post-production installations to a single site equipped with the very latest technology.

Paris (France) and Montreal (Quebec), September 23, 2013 - During a press conference organised today with Ms. Pauline Marois, Quebec Premier, Technicolor (Euronext Paris: TCH) announced the opening of a new Visual Effects studio boasting state-of-the-art technology and a renewal of its post-production services with the relocation of the existing installations to a single site equipped with the very latest technology. By doing so, Technicolor will consolidate its presence in Montreal (Quebec) while reasserting its commitment to the environment with support of the Government of Quebec.

Technicolor, the world leader in production and post-production services, is pursuing its strategy aimed at extending both its range of products and services and its geographical presence while developing new solutions designed to support its customers in the digital transition. By enhancing its activity in Montreal, Technicolor will further increase its proximity to its customers, in particular those based in North America.

The new visual effects studio, opening under the brand MPC, covers more than 2,300m² in the old town of Montreal and will be home to more than 200 creative talents who will serve the rapidly expanding Montreal film market. This installation, promoted by the Government of Quebec, which actively supports this industry through fiscal measures and interest-free loans, will complement an existing network of six studios in locations around the world (London, Vancouver, New York, Santa Monica, Bangalore and Amsterdam). The new premises will officially open on 28 October 2013. The team in Montreal is already hard at work on projects such as "Into the Woods" (Walt Disney Pictures), "X-Men Days of Future Past" (Twentieth Century Fox) and "Cinderella" (Walt Disney Pictures).

Premier Pauline Marois stated “By choosing Montréal, Technicolor can count on a pool of specialized, highly-qualified, highly-educated, experienced, creative, talented people who are ready to commit themselves, in a favorable economic environment. Investing in Québec’s metropolis enables the company to benefit from very competitive tax treatment, along with low business start-up and operating costs.”

Frederic Rose, CEO of Technicolor, stated, "I am particularly happy that this new development will strengthen our network in North America with equipment and the very highest quality talent. I thank the Government of Quebec for its continued involvement alongside our industry. Through its investment, Quebec has created a favourable environment and particularly well-adapted training programs within the Montreal region."

The Technicolor post-production services (front end, image, sound, restoration, dubbing and distribution), previously housed at four sites and employing 200 people, will soon be relocated to a single site at 2101 Ste-Catherine in Montreal. The technical equipment will be renewed to offer a state-of-the-art service.
