Punyakoti becomes India’s largest successfully crowd funded project on a crowd funding platform in India, raised over 41 Lakhs!

Bangalore, India: Punyakoti, the world’s first Sanskrit animation film, has successfully crowdfunded their project on Indian crowdfunding site Wishberry.in.
Punyakoti raised Rs.41, 10,210, crossing their funding goal of Rs.40 Lakhs with the support of 282 backers from over 10 countries, incidentally, on the eve of Sanskrit Day. They are officially touted as India’s largest successfully crowd funded project on a crowdfunding platform.
Ravi Shankar, Director, says, “I feel thrilled and super excited after the campaign reached its target. I am moved by the support I received and feel I have a big responsibility now to deliver a good product.”
Punyakoti garnered immense support from backers around the world, Facebook messages, tweets, emails and funds were pouring in from Sanskrit and Animation believers throughout the campaign.
The script is inspired by 'Punyakoti' a Kannada folk song that narrates the story of a confrontation between a cow and a tiger, Punyakoti explores the growing issue of man-animal conflicts. The film is also crowd sourced, each of the 31 scenes have been given out to independent animators, animation studios and schools all around the world.
Punyakoti has completed the pre-production of the movie and will be moving into production from now on. Punyakoti’s team consists of music maestro Sir Illaiyaraja, national award winning editor, ManojKannoth, popular filmmaker and screen writer Anvar Ali and more. The movie will be completed by Sanskrit Day next year, and should release worldwide by Diwali 2016.
