Navi Mumbai set to host its first international film festival

Neighbouring THE HOME OF BOLLYWOOD,Navi Mumbai is soon going to witness its first international film festival, where around 40 movies from across the globe will be screened. The first edition of Navi Mumbai International Film Festival (NMIFF) will be held the PADMASHREE Dr. D.Y.Patil auditorium, Navi Mumbai from the 31st of Jan, 1st& 2nd of February, 2014. 

First ever Navi Mumbai International Film Festival (NMIFF)willprovide a grand stage for the artistes to showcase their talents.

“The city has everything; now the film festival would add another arena,” said Sachin Khanna, founder of NMIFF. He added that NMIFF has been founded with the idea to showcase the talent and creativity of filmmakers and give a global exposure to the budding filmmakers. 

The film entries for the festival have come in from all around the world and are segregated into three categories— student, professional and feature films with shorts, documentaries, animation, social awareness and music.

Relatively, 40 movies across the globe will be screened in three days.

The jury will be headed by director and producer Marc Baschet, hails from france. Also, won an Oscar for few of his acclaimed films such as No Man’s Land and Heaven, Before the Rain, Rain of Life. Next is writer and director Imtiaz Hussain, a National award winner for films line Astitva and Parinda and Rohini Hattangadi. And, Indian actress, BAFTA winner Kasurba Gandhi.

The Student Shorts best film will be awarded the prize money of Rs. 20,000 with a trophy and Certificate. And, the best film of Professional Shorts is to be awarded with Rs. 40,000 and Rs. 1, 00,000, prize money for the best feature Film.
