Word flowing in from the Society for Animation in Delhi shows hectic activity in progress as arrangements to put things in place are taking final shape to dress up Dilli Haat, Pitampura, Delhi, for the final show – the Festival of Animation in Delhi – FAD.
Reports from SAID confirm that Ms. Vijaya Mulay, the mother of Indian Animation, maker of Ek, Anek aur Ekta, the first Indian short Animation film to be screened on Doordarshan, way back on 14 December, 1974, exactly 39 years ago, will be attending the show. The film will be screened in her presence, and the mother will be felicitated with SAID’s first Moment of Memento (MoM), along with Bhimsain, the creative Animator who put the works together. SAID has also confirmed that Rajiv Chilaka, the legendary creator of “Chhota Bheem”, will also be personally present to receive a Moment of Memento.
According to Kala Iyer, eminent film maker and Secretary SAID, Moments of Mementos are like the gift that historical Rajas gave away on hearing “good news”. It is a moment in time that SAID takes out for giving away to the creator of Indian animation and related art which has an impact on the animation world in India and internationally. Fondly called the MoM, this first MoM rightly belongs to the mother of Indian Animation, Vijaya Mulay.
