First Ever Annual Bangalore Comics Convention got an overwhelming response from Comics Enthusiasts

The two day fest saw People having a gala time at the convention.People were dressed in their favorite comic characters and superhero costumes; Renowned Guests took Special Sessions, there were over 10 book launches, tons of merchandise & Lots of activities.
Bangalore, June 2’2013- The 1st ever action packed Annual Bangalore Comics Convention organized by Comic Con India saw grand response from fans from all age groups over the weekend of June 1-2’ 2013 at Koramangala Stadium, National Games Village. The two day fest was an effort put in to celebrate the love for comics and give a boost to the Comic industry by increasing local interaction and participation.
“We try to bring Retailers, Publishers, Merchandisers, Writers, Artists, Illustrators etc. from within the Comic, Animation, Gaming, Movies/studios and related communities together and give them a common platform. We are overwhelmed by the response we have been getting at all Indian Comics Cons. We were extremely fortunate to have speakers - from the Indian Comics Industry, to veterans of the industry from outside the country who came specially for the Bangalore Comic Con”, said Jatin Varma, Founder, Comic Con India.
“I am extremely happy as we have received a Grand response from Comics Fans and Artists from across the world. Bangalore fans are fantastic; there was so much love for comics and pop-culture in the air! We are so looking forward to be back next year and every year as Bangalore now has its own Annual Comics Convention!”, said Jatin Varma, Founder, Comic Con India”, Jatin added.
The event had stalls exhibiting, promoting and selling comics, graphic novels, special Anime merchandise etc. There were Workshops and Interactive Sessions every hour at the dedicated stage area with Exclusive launches of Comics titles, book signings, competitions and Cosplay(Costume contest)!
Bangalore Comic Con saw the best of sessions with Jerome Saincantin from Cinebook UK and Jerry Pinto, author of Comic Con India’s Best Cover Award winning 'When Crows Are White'. The most exciting part at Bangalore Comic Con was, it gave fans an opportunity to interact with artists, illustrators, designers working for comics and related fields.
Cosplay(Costume contest), one of the major attractions at Comic Con India, was bigger and better this time, as each day, winners got chosen from five categories. Both days, One lucky winner out of the chosen 5 got to WIN a GOLDEN TICKET to Goa!!
This too good to be true fest, witnessed all the fans meeting and getting their pictures clicked with their favourite Manga and Indian characters Geronimo Stilton, Spongebob, Ninja Hatori, Suppandi, Shikari Shambhu.
Amar Chitra Katha was out in full force, with their entire content team conducting sessions, quizzes and activities as well as their large presence featuring their entire catalog of comics and more.
Bangalore’s Comic Con was very high on the Merchandise factor as it brought stuff from all over the World. For the first time ever, special Anime and Manga Merchandise was available for all the fans in Bangalore. Every fan was asking for Hellboy’s limited edition Set and Funny action figures of “MAD- Just-Us league” grabbed everyone’s attention.
If that was not enough, there were some exciting giveaways which included exclusive Myntra Bangalore Comic Con 2013 Limited Edition Swag Bags, made only for the event to be given to the chosen few!
ACK Media, the house of Amar Chitra Katha and Tinkle Magazine, the most respected names in Indian comics, and Comic Con India, India's only convention for graphic storytelling and comics were proud to take their initiative Comics for a Cause a step ahead with a special sale of original comic artwork and covers at Bangalore Comic Con 2013 with all proceeds going towards Project Nanhi Kali.
Some of the leading participants in the Bangalore’s Comic con were: Amar Chitra Katha, Campfire graphic novels, Pop culture publishing, DC Comics (Random House India), Marvel Comics (Hachette India), Lion Comics (Tamil), HarperCollins India, Scholastic India, Bangalore's very own - Manta Ray Comics.
Now, after years, the comics’ community in India has a platform where they can meet and interact. Comic Con India is a unique event celebrating the illustrated medium, which brings together the whole comics industry and related fields such as Merchandise, Toys, Games, Films and Animation, along with fans of this culture from all age groups.
