The Society for Animation in Delhi has taken its next major step forward. Vijaya Mulay, the Mother of Indian Animation, maker of Ek, Anek aur Ekta (Ek Titli Anek Titliyan fame), will be present at its AGAFA 2013 Nite, at Dilli Haat, Pitam Pura, New Delhi on 14 December 2013, to accept felicitation and SAID’s first MOMENT of MEMENTO.

Speaking to Animation Galaxy, Madan Pania, President SAID, informed that she was extremely touched by the gesture, expressing tremendous solidarity with the objectives of SAID.  She also re-iterated that Ek, Anek aur Ekta be screened at the AGAFA 2013 Nite.  Madan Pania informed that even today she is an extremely passionate animator and yearns to watch newer and newer creativity expressing itself on various fora.

SAID also announced that a Moment of Memento would be presented to Rajiv Chhilakia, creator of  Chhota Bheem, and was trying to reach him for the purpose, when reports last came in.  Moments of Mementos (MoMs) are SAID’s own way of recognizing and rewarding excellence in animation, especially to individuals and institutions that have made an impact on animation in India, and worldwide.  SAID waited for almost two years to be able to award its FIRST MoM, and promises to institutionalize the system alongside AGAFA.  Subhash Siddhu, Joint Secretary, SAID informed that the AGAFA is the competitive route to this award system, while MoM is the nomination route.  SAID has plans to merge the two to a common platform as the achievements grow.  The competitive section of AGAFA for Graphic Designers and Digital Painters is over, and for animation films 10th November is the last date.

AGAFA 2013 is all set to become THE animation event of the year in and around Delhi, and preparations are in full swing to make it a success.  Five voluntary partners, including Animation Galaxy, have joined into the effort to ensure that AGAFA generates the stature that is due to it – Flavour of Art, Anim Dilli, All CG Tutorials, Animationhelp.in and Animators’ Point have already started working on it, and more organizations are reported to be joining into this huge, NEVER-BEFORE effort.
